Quickbooks is Not the Only Software For Small Business

Here is the question for any business owner: which of these two do you find the most important? Tracking your finances or tracking the clients that generate the finances? Now read that again and think hard, should we be tracking finances or the clients that generate the finance....hmm?

I am pretty sure that most of you have figured out the answer is of course, that we have to track our clients and prospects or we will have very little finances to track with our great new QB software. Marketing has such a great hold on the public that we almost forget to think about what is best for our company not what is best for QB, Microsoft, and Dell etc.

What is a CRM? Simply put a CRM software is software for the purpose of tracking, marketing, sales and client relationships. This one piece of software is by far the best investment for any small business from day one to your first million and beyond without a CRM solution your small business journey will truly be more difficult than it has to be.

One example of the use of a CRM - Assume you get a phone call from a client that wants to purchase (widget A ) now you explain to your potential customer all the benefits of (widget A) your potential client quite impressed does not make the purchase but vows to call you back. Any small business owner who has been in business any length of time has lived this scenario a million times.

You hang up and the next call comes in and so on and so on and so on. As the day closes you have had multiple prospects but few closings what's worst is you have left a great deal of money on the table. Allow me to explain with a CRM in place you would have a system in place for lead tracking so as each of these prospect calls you will have a simple method of follow up so the money on the table is not left behind.

This is where CRM proves to be the best software for small business (if used correctly sorry QB). Example - As this call came in we took client information and put it into our software, email, phone, name, company position etc. Now we have all the ammunition we need to create a targeted marketing campaign for this single customer and all of our potential customers!

What happens next is music to our ears ca-ching ca-ching ca-ching. Information is king and using it correctly is wealth.This system creates an easy way to follow up with clients as well as remember previous conversations, record all previous purchases, purchasing patterns, decision makers, task completion, lost sales, sales won, and my personal favorite uncover and exploit future client needs.
