Hydrogen peroxide machine is a basic organic chemical raw material of versatile functions. It can be used to manufacture the urea-formaldehyde, phenol aldehyde, butanediol, pentaerythritol, poly formaldehyde and also other organic chemical goods. Formaldehyde is almost made by air oxidation of methanol. According to the different types of catalysts, there are two production ways namely Fe-Mo catalyst method and silver catalyst method.
1. Fe-Mo catalyst method: The Fe-Mo catalyst method involves Fe2O3, MnO3 as catalysts and also chromium and cobalt oxides as co-catalyst. Mix the methanol and the excessive degree of air together. After purification and preheating, they can react in the 320-380℃ temperature and form the formaldehyde. Sweden's Perstorp Company is a typical case of this craftsmanship route. The formaldehyde plant which adopts the Fe-Mo catalyst method has larger production capacity. Its methanol conversion rate can reach 95%-99% and the plant has lower methanol consumption. It can produce high concentrations of formaldehyde without distillation unit. The catalyst used in the plant has longer life. But one-time investment for the plant costs too much and it has higher power consumption.
2. Silver catalyst method: Silver catalyst method uses silver mesh or a thin layer of silver particles as its catalyst. Methanol and excess air react in the 600-720℃ temperature and form the formaldehyde. German's BASF Company is representative of this craftsmanship route.
The most reasons decreasing the actual growth and development of chemicals:
Although large-scale formaldehyde plant was used in recent years, most of the equipments have no economic scale. Productivity of single formaldehyde plant is too small on account of shortage in production technology. Apart from the technology, the reduction of formaldehyde consumption also restricts the growth of the plant. In the formaldehyde consumption in previous years, three major resins formaldehyde consumption is about 80% of its total consumption. The formaldehyde plays a quite important role in adhesives for wood industry. But, the administrative regulations strictly limited the decorative materials formaldehyde content. Some research institutions began to launch the formaldehyde-free items like formaldehyde-free coating and formaldehyde-free adhesive. The promotion of formaldehyde-free products has influence on the formaldehyde consumption. People are looking for the formaldehyde alternatives. Normally, the formaldehyde consumption in construction and furniture industries will be reduced constantly.
Another reason is that the continuous rising price of the international energy has led to the rising costs of methanol production. The primary raw material of formaldehyde is methanol. Although the price of the formaldehyde remains high in recent years, but for the formaldehyde production enterprises, the profit is getting smaller and smaller. Reduction of the profit space has reduced the operating rate of formaldehyde worldwide.
CO2 recovery machine is easy to polymerize as to its chemical properties. This affected the market sales radius. Low concentrations are not easy to polymerize, while the low concentration has lower efficient components. Transportation costs will be increased. This character of the formaldehyde has determined that it can only be manufactured and sold locally. Regional consumption ability may cause vicious price competition which is not good for improving the technical level of the formaldehyde plant.
